CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B spent the National Day of Service and Rememberance honoring Corpus Christi firefighters for the 20th year of their 'Helping Heroes' program.
The grocery chain aimed to reach the heroes' hearts through their stomachs to say thank you for their dedication and hard work in our community.
The fire crew at Station #14 were treated to a delicious meal and had their pantry stocked up by H-E-B associates who were thrilled to serve the ones who serve us.
Senior Public Affairs Specialist Bobby Rodriguez said the event is really fulfilling.
"I feel that everyone can remember what 9/11 was like and where you were," he said. "I know that so many people try to make a difference and it really fills my bucket that I get to be part of this program on a larger scale, and really work with all of the fire stations in Corpus Christi and across the Coastal Bend in the area that we serve."
H-E-B officials said partners will adopt more than 70 fire, EMS and police stations in the Coastal Bend area.
