Things got spooky at Halloween veterans roundtable at Del Mar

De la Cerda said the event is hosted every Thursday and veterans or those who know them are always encouraged to come and show their support.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a spooky yet very productive veterans roundtable today over at the Del Mar College Center for Economic Development. These ghouls and goblins, who also happen to be some of our areas bravest soldiers got another chance to get some very helpful tips on navigating their health benefits and other veteran affairs.

"So, we did get information from the VA that they do have a backlog on their claims benefits side. So, if you put in a claim, if you're a veteran and you put in a claim, it's going to be four weeks before the VA even starts processing that claim. So, it's important that we be patient with them, but just make sure that they do have the claim but there is a backlog," said Nueces County Veteran Services officer J.J. De la Cerda.

The roundtable also had games and a even a costume contest, De la Cerda said the event is hosted every Thursday and veterans or those who know them are always encouraged to come and show their support.
