CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCISD is set to host a free vaping-prevention and health and wellness symposium Wednesday.
Students and parents will be able to enjoy break-out sessions, student performances and community vendors in addition to free food and drinks.
The 'Hope: Helping Others Through Prevention and Education' event starts at 5:30 at Mary Carroll High School.
Dr. Maria Iyescas, Coordinator for Mental Health Services told 3News that the data on underage vaping can be difficult to face.
"The number of middle school students and high school students who are vaping is quite astonishing," said Dr. Iyescas. "So that is one of the goals of our HOPE Symposium that we're going to have, is to teach parents, guardians and students about the dangers of vaping."
