CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Just before 11 a.m. Thursday CCFD responded to a house fire on Sheffield Lane near Flynn Parkway.
Crews noticed fire conditions coming from the back side of the home near the garage. They caught the fire in the attic extinguished the flames quickly.
Robin McGill from Battalion 3 of CCFD reminded the community of the importance of having smoke detectors in your home.
"We always talk about smoke detectors inside the home I think a fabulous idea is putting a smoke detector in your garage, I know its an unoccupied space but there is a chance you'll hear it and we do make a certain amount of garage fires that spread before the homeowner is even aware," McGill said.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries and the homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation on scene.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but crews believe it was an electrical fire.
