CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A burglary in Jim Wells County last Friday led police to a 54-year-old man in Alice donning a cowboy hat and a light tan jacket with a beard and glasses, authorities announced Tuesday.
Demetrio Martinez III was caught on a resident's game camera, according to the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office, removing a television from a mount at the back of a home in the 3000 block of Farm to Market Road 735 in Alice.
Martinez was out on bond for a previous theft at the time. Detectives ran a GPS check of his ankle monitor device, which placed him on the premises at the time of the theft.
By the time deputies were prepared to arrest Martinez for the theft, he had already been incarcerated in the Jim Wells County jail for an unrelated charge that took place on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Detectives found that sufficient probable cause existed to charge the 54-year-old man with theft of property with 2 or more previous convictions, a felony level warrant. He was served a for that new arrest warrant on Monday, Oct. 21.
