Kingsville teen in custody following school threats

Police officers headed to the school after learning the juvenile was making both verbal and text-based threats.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 14-year-old is in custody tonight after Kingsville Police say he made threats of a school shooting at H.M. King Early College High School earlier this week.

Police officers headed to the school after learning the juvenile was making both verbal and text-based threats.

They were also able to search the teen's home but did not find any firearms or other weapons.

The young man was detained and taken to the San Patricio County Juvenile Center in Sinton where he faces charges of false alarm and report, which is a state felony.

On Friday night, as they work to help keep the community safe, the Kingsville Police Department issued a reminder.

"We want our residents to know that we are always looking out for the wellbeing of the community and that we are ready to respond to any situation that threatens our safety," said Kingsville police.

If you have anything to report, you are urged to call the department at 361-592-4311.
