CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man accused of setting fire to an apartment in Falfurrias while a woman slept inside is in the custody of US Marshals.
Ruben Regalado was arrested Friday on charges of arson causing bodily harm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and terroristic threat, the US Marshal Service said Monday.
The incident happened Jan. 21 after Marshals said the man was involved in a domestic disturbance with the woman.
After the fight, Falfurrias Police Department officials said, Regalado reportedly set fire to the apartment at the Falfurrias Village Apartments complex in the 800 block of S. Center Street, where the woman he fought with slept inside.
Falfurrias Police said at the time that they were unsure whether Regalado was trying to kill the woman, but that her hands suffered burns in the fire.
After looking for Regalado for several days, Falfurrias Police called in the US Marshals for help.
Deputy Heleodoro "Bryan" Cantu said the Marshals received limited help from the community, but once a wanted poster was made with Regalado's information, more information came in and he was able to be located and arrested in Falfurrias.
