CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A major recognition Friday for a local community of folks.
On Friday, Mirador Retirement Community was globally recognized as they were awarded the highest possible rating of, "high performance" on the U.S. News and World Report's 2025 list of the best nursing homes for short-term rehabilitation.
The staff at the retirement home were surprised with the award this morning, and we were there when it all happened.
3NEWS spoke with a couple of residents who said the award is much deserved.
"I was surprised in the fact we finally got recognized. I do think it's a well deserved honor for this place and the employees, I really enjoy being here with them," said 5-year resident Richard Whatley.
"That award is so richly deserved, they took wonderful care of me. I've cast away a wheelchair, a walker, and recently cast away a cane," said Sally Rausch who recovered from a knee replacement and has lived at Mirador for 8 years.
