CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new kayak rental kiosk is now open thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department in Portland.
It offers an opportunity for the public to rent a kayak and save the cost of buying their own.
You can rent a kayak for as low as $14.
Kristin Connor, the director of the Parks and Recreation said that the new addition adds another layer to the Portland experience.
"I think having this here at Sunset Lake is an amenity for the park users," Connor said. "You don't have to load up a kayak yourself, you don't have to buy a kayak, you don't have to get your car all dirty if you don't have a truck afterwards. Adding this feature is really great for the park user."
Connor said they plan to continue to expand their park experience with more amenities in the future to encourage more people to come out and maybe even try something new.
