CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new queen crowned Saturday night at the 61st Annual Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Queens Contest.
Twenty young women from all over Nueces County from Padre Island to Banquete were vying to take over duties from previous Queen Giselle Delgado. Contestants are judged on poise, personality, presentation and talent. Each young lady was also interviewed by the judges, which counted towards half of their total score.
Kylee Zimmerman from Driscoll 4-H took home the crown and a $5,000 scholarship.
She replaces last year's Queen, Giselle Delgado who is now studying Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University.
Another crowning over in Sinton at the San Patricio Aransas County A&H show Queen's contest.
Jocelynn Gonzales won the top prize with Traci McClellen placing as first runner up.
The Livestock Show Queen is responsible for advocating for agriculture across South Texas over the next year. She will also get to hand out awards and ribbons during this years stock show.
