CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The cast of 'Oklahoma!' joined First Edition (where the wind comes sweeping down the weather forecast) Wednesday morning!
Set to premiere at the Harbor Playhouse on Friday, the family-friendly play is known for its boot dancing and stunning musical numbers. 3NEWS woke the cast and crew up extra early to tell us all about what goes into preparing for the show, their favorite scenes and why every generation will enjoy the show.
Jaxon Marby, a 19-year-old student at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, is making his acting debut at the Harbor Playhouse stepping into one of Oklahoma's main roles, Curly McLain!
The character Curly is in a love triangle with Laurey Williams and Jud Fry.
As a child, Marby performed in several plays in his hometown of Houston. He is now making his acting dream a reality as he majors in theater.
“It was actually a very last second decision," Marby said. "I was going be a lawyer and then I decided not to May of my senior year of high school. I want to be an actor because that’s what I’ve been good at my whole life and that’s what I want to do. And so here I am.”
He said he’s enjoying his time at the Harbor Playhouse noting a big difference from the theaters he previously performed at.

“Houston has a lot of regional theaters, but this is by far the best community theater I’ve ever seen," Marby said. "It’s really well-run and there’s a lot of great aspects to it that just no other community theater that I’ve seen can do or will do.”
He is excited to be part of the cast and is looking forward to opening the show with them this weekend.
“We’ve been working on it since mid-January and we’re so ready for it now," he said. "We’re in a really great spot so, I have full confidence in my cast. We’re doing a great job.”
