CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Over 60 nonprofits will benefit from the annual Coastal Bend Day of Giving fundraiser.
The "big day" is on Nov. 12, but if you feel called to donate now, you can! Early giving is open right now until Nov. 11. Just click here!
Corpus Christi Fish for Life is one of those participating nonprofits that does great work in our community.
The organization is dedicated to enriching the lives of at-risk youth, low-income families and veterans.
They help provide necessities like clothes, shoes and food specifically, venison.
According to Corpus Christi Fish for Life President Chuck Goodwin, the heart of this operation began five years ago with one family in need of meat and has since grown to help many others.
"This year we did 30,000 pounds of ground venison," he said. "We now have an arrangement with the food bank. The food bank distributes it all for us and their 175 pantries in 11 South Texas counties."
Fish for Life officials said that the more money they're able to raise this year, the more families they'll be able to help.
