CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There was a lot of excitement for 100 invited students from T.G. Allen Elementary School Thursday morning as they received a $100 shopping spree from the nonprofit organization Corpus Christi Fish for Life.
The students were assisted by community volunteers who helped them pick out their very own items for the current school year.
Corpus Christi Fish for Life began in 2010 as a mentorship program for at-risk youth. It has now expanded to providing food and clothes for low-income families.
"We just believe that some of these kids will go away with a memory that will stick with them forever, that there were people who cared about them when they were growing up," organization president Chuck Goodwin said.
Another shopping spree was provided for the students at John F. Kennedy and West Oso elementary schools earlier this month.
Corpus Christi Fish for Life will be participating in the annual Day of Giving coming up in November, where our viewers will get the chance to help fund community efforts.
