Pink Diva Ball makes history Friday night

The Pink Diva Project was created in 2010 by two friends who wanted to make breast cancer survivors feel beautiful while also making long-lasting memories.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Pink Diva Ball took over the Omni Hotel Friday for an evening of glamour for breast cancer survivors.

The event, hosted by the Pink Diva Project, was the biggest celebration in the group's history.

The project was created by two friends who wanted to offer an amazing experience for breast cancer survivors that would make them feel beautiful. The Ball helped those survivors make long lasting memories with their loved ones and supporters when photos from an October photoshoot featuring nine 'Divas' were unveiled Friday.

"Our new Divas have so many big sisters that are former Divas, and so for them to be here with their little sisters tonight and showing them the ropes has been amazing," said co-founder Liana Gonzales.

"It's a club that you don't want to be in," agreed Josh Salinas, also a co-founder. "But if you have breast cancer and you need that support with other women it's an amazing group of women."  and Josh Salinas.

Friday's sold-out event was held in honor of 'Breast Friends,' a program at the Coastal Bend Wellness Center that provides prosthetics for mastectomy patients.

It supported not only the night's Divas, but all of the women who belong to the organization.
