CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Army Captain Le Roy Torres from Robstown got a phone call Wednesday morning from President Joe Biden himself.
Torres suffers from complications after being exposed to toxic fumes while in the service in post-9/11 Iraq.
He alongside his wife, Rosie, founded Burn Pits 360, a nonprofit that aims to help veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits, and their families.
The president called to recognize and thank the Torres' for their continued work on the PACT Act, a law that expands VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits and toxic substances.
"Because I think it really does make a difference, the legislation you helped get passed as well, you know, allowing us to have Veterans Buddy Check Weeks," Biden told Torres on the phone.
If you're a veteran or know someone who could benefit from getting connected to Burn Pits 360 call (386) 287-6360 or visit the website here.
