CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Friday, city water leaders met with regional water partners to discuss rates for the region that Corpus Christi Water serves. CCW officials will introduce the new rates to city council at a budget workshop next week.
They'll be alongside City Manager Peter Zanoni who is gearing up to present the entire proposed budget for Corpus Christi.
CCW Chief Operating Officer Drew Molly says the budget is mostly flat on the water side this year for residents in Corpus Christi. However, to keep up with inflation and rising costs, wholesale customers can expect to see what Molly calls a "modest" increase.
"Some of our partners that we are selling water to for wholesale, those costs have gone up," Molly said. "Every one of the customers that we sell wholesale to, there's a raw water component, and so there was an increase of about 15 percent on the raw water cost from last year."
He said that increase will not affect cities like Alice, Beeville and Mathis who take water from Lake Corpus Christi as there will be no changes to their raw water cost.
However, those who live in San Patricio and other areas purchasing water wholesale will be seeing the new rate on their water bill.
