CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — As warmer temperatures have made their way to the Coastal Bend, they've brought along with them safer conditions for endangered sea turtles to be released back into their natural habitats.
Seventy green sea turtles were released on Tuesday morning in Port Aransas after being rehabilitated at the Amos Rehabilitation Keep.
Over three hundred turtles were rescued during last week's freeze.
Veterinarians with the 'ARK' told 3NEWS their crews worked over-time to save the animals from the cold temperatures.
We caught up today with some folks checking out the release.
"I love turtles so much that I want to keep one," said one young fan of the turtle release.
Her mother then chimed in, saying she was excited for her kiddos to get a look at the unique event.
"I think it's a once in a lifetime experience for the kids to be able to witness, well to see the nature being protected being cared for by humans other than hunted all the time or chased around, and I don't think we get to see that very often."
