CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A religious relic from one of the original 12 apostles, Saint Jude Thaddeaus, will be traveling across 100 different cities and is making a stop in Corpus Christi on Wednesday at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Saratoga Boulevard.
The first veneration time, or time for respectful visitation, will be from 2 to 6 p.m. A mass dedicated to St. Jude will be held at 6 p.m. with continued time for visitation until 9 p.m. According to the South Texas Catholic magazine, Most Precious Blood was chosen as the only stop in the Diocese of Corpus Christi because it has a special shrine to the saint.
The relic is a bone fragment from St. Jude's arm. There are a number of relics from saints all over the world from full incorrupt bodies to objects the saints used or touched.
St. Jude is the patron saint for hopeless causes meaning that Catholics will ask St. Jude for assistance in praying to Jesus and God when they feel that all other efforts have failed.
