CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera said, over the weekend, that an inmate charged with two serious felonies escaped from custody after being transported to a mental-health facility in Harlingen.
The escape happened Saturday after the San Patricio County jail's psychiatric facility arranged for the inmate to be accepted at the Harlingen ward.
Rivera said the man was ultimately re-arrested in in Rockport after attempting to purchase a gun. He was apprehended thanks to the help of the Aransas County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshal’s Service.
The sheriff said the man was taken back into custody with additional tattoos he didn’t have when he left.
