CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Artists from all across the world are here in the Coastal Bend this week, traveling to Port Aransas to show off their art sculpting skills at the 2024 Texas SandFest.
The fun kicks off on Friday and runs until Sunday on Port Aransas Beach between Marker 13 and 17.
The festival is the largest beach sand sculpture competition in the US! Coordinator Suzanne Altamare says it's all friendly competition.
"It's just also nice because when you do sand sculptor you can let your imagination come out into the world for people to see, and that's the best part and it inspires people," Altamare said. "It inspires them to try music or sculpture or drawing. It really is an inspirational thing for people."
She has been helping coordinate the festival since 2005 and says she absolutely loves it.
