CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Santa Claus made a special appearance at Gloria Hicks Elementary School on Friday.
Despite his busy schedule, he carved out time to make an early visit to the Coastal Bend and see the students as they kicked off the annual Christmas Around the World event.
3NEWS spoke with Principal Kathy Ortiz who explained how this event continues to grow bigger and better each year.
"Our program seems to grow every single year, we get more elves that volunteer from the community, we get more donors that help with this event because they truly believe in what we're doing for our students," she said. "So, it's grown every year I've been here."
Students were able to decorate cookies, pick out a book and take their very own handmade ornament back home to put up on their Christmas tree.
