CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — CCISD police responded to the scene of a school bus as it evacuated nearly 20 children Thursday morning.
The incident happened at 6th and Craig when the smoke caused the driver to stop the bus and remove the students from potential danger.
CCPD said Corpus Christi Fire handled the call while the school children played some games before another bus arrived to take them to Allen elementary.
The students will be excused for being late.
