CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The final tabs are in from this year's Share Your Christmas food drive!
Bea Hanson of the Coastal Bend Food Bank joined us on Domingo Live on Sunday morning to break down the numbers for us.
After requesting a drumroll from Rudy and Barbi, Hanson announced that the total amount raised was $55,483. And that's just monetary donations!
Altogether, 33 schools across the Coastal Bend gathered over 28 thousand pounds of food.
Those donations stayed in their respective communities, as need for food assistance climbs across the area.
"Thirteen million pounds of food we distributed by the end of the year, and this year, we probably will distribute fifteen million so that's how much more the demand has increased," said Hanson.
Meeting that demand would not be possible without donors. Especially from those who gave during our 3NEWS telethon, which itself raised $6,774.
To our viewers: Thank you for watching and above all, thank you for caring.
