CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Thursday Gov. Greg Abbott's Small Business Summit kicked off at the American Bank Center aiming to help Texas small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs reach new heights.
Each month the governor picks a region of the state to host the event, giving business owners the chance to connect with state resources and information needed to start, strengthen and even grow their business.
A variety of sessions are offered bringing together local, state and federal resource partners to provide key insights on critical business topics.
"I think the biggest thing that I hope that everyone takes away is that whether it's the City, these key resource partners, the Governor's Office, we're here to help you start, grow and to expand you in the business and to provide support," Senior Management Analyst for the City of Corpus Christi Office of Economic Development Joe Escobar said.
According to Abbott, 9 in 10 businesses in Texas are small businesses and they employ nearly half of all working Texans.
