CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — St. John's United Methodist Church presented at $20,000 scholarship to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to help further student education.
University president Dr. Kelly Miller accepted the check from members of the church, Bryan Thompson and Betty Thompson, on Friday.
Miller said the scholarship will go toward helping students in the education path, making that pipeline from campus to career more assessible.
"We really are excited about this opportunity because we know that A&M- Corpus Christi produces outstanding teachers and so by partnering together, we can help our students receive the funds they need to complete their education and then provide excellence to our K-12 schools," Miller said.
For students to receive the scholarship they must be studying education, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be from the local region.
