CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students taking part in the Buc Days Leadership Program showcased their final presentations.
The area high schoolers had to put together a PowerPoint presentation about what they learned during the experience, which helped them gain the confidence they need to network in their future endeavors.
Hundreds of students apply to the program each year, but there are only 20 finalists.
They are chosen based on academic standing and extracurricular activities.
More than $80,000 in scholarships will be awarded.
"The self-confidence and the self-esteem boost that this program has provided me. I think that's-- surrounded by leaders in the community has really helped me to learn my strengths and weakness and helped me be more social," said Tuloso-Midway High School senior Laird Sterns.
The student finalists will be able to get to use the scholarship money to help assist in paying for college by lifting a weight off their shoulders.
