CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Some local students at Incarnate Word Academy took part in an expedition Tuesday with a cave exploration exhibit!
The "CaveSim" exhibit features a 26-foot truck equipped with a cave exploration simulator that gives students the opportunity to experience teambuilding activities while learning about cave rescue along with other math and science-related activities.
The company's owner, Dave Jackson, a cave explorer and rescuer himself, says he uses the CaveSim design to teach kids about conservation and science after discovering caves being damaged in real life rescue operations.
"We saw the caves getting damaged, we built this for rescuers, but we found that kids really love it," Jackson said. "And it's a really easy way for us to teach them about science, engineering, math, art, all kinds of different subjects, it's really fun."
Jackson said it is all set up to help students learn how to be "careful explorers."
CaveSim is based out of Colorado and travels all over the country year-round!
