CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Livestock show season is going strong with students showcasing their talents and hobbies at the San Patricio and Aransas County Agriculture and Homemaking Show.
A senior at Mathis High School representing the Mathis FFA chapter, 17-year-old Jocelynn Gonzales, is one of many students involved this year.
Her contributions in relation to the A&H show go above and beyond.
"For my service project, because I did win service project, I made a coloring book for little kids and it helped them with their self affirmations and becoming self-aware of their emotions and also who they are," Gonzales said.
She also participated in other areas of the show, making a German chocolate cake and showing lambs and hogs that she raised.
Student Taylor Baker has been involved with livestock and 4-H since she was a little girl. This year, she won with her strawberry rhubarb pie!
"It's a lot, it's very time consuming," Baker said "But in the end it's all worth it and I love it and I'll do it again and again, I wish I could do it more."
