CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi's Economic Development Department is looking to breathe new life into North Beach and they're looking for your input!
On Tuesday the City launched a survey to find out what the community wants to see in the area, like new bars and restaurants or even improvements to local favorites.
The feedback will directly influence the development of a new Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ)
As a reminder, TIRZ is a financial tool that cities use to reinvest into the economy, helping the community as a whole.
According to Economic Development Assistant Director Elsy Borgstedte, in this case, the city is looking to use those dollars to improve North Beach which has become a hotspot for tourists and locals alike.
"I think it's really relevant, the timing is right, we're seeing a lot more tourism coming in," Borgstedte said. "More families bringing in to visit residents throughout the whole city but definitely I think north beach is at a point where it's moving and moving and moving."
You have until May 12 to complete the survey. After that, the development team will present it to the board, the city manager and the public.
