CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man who had been a Freer Independent School District teacher was arrested for possession of child pornography, according to superintendent Conrad Cantu.
Nueces County Jail records show David Scott Hunter's charge as "possession of child porn, child younger than 10 years old."
He is being held at the jail as of early Friday evening, and his bond has been set to $150,000.
In a public announcement posted to social media, Cantu said that the district was able to confirm that the alleged actions took place off-campus.
The 52-year-old was placed on administrative leave and will be reported to the State Board of Educator Certification.
It is unclear what his role with the district is currently.
A news release states that counseling resources will be made available to students on Monday.
