The Lipan Apache Pow-Wow is returning to Corpus Christi

Native American dancers and vendors from across the country are headed to Corpus Christi for an all-day showcase of culture and to honor our veterans.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The last time you saw something like the hoop dance in this video in Corpus was back in the 90's. And this week, it's coming back!

We're talking, of course, about the Lipan Apache tribe of Texas' Veterans Pow-Wow.

Native American dancers and vendors from across the country are headed to Corpus Christi for an all-day showcase of culture and to honor our veterans. And all of the community is encouraged to attend, regardless of heritage.

"It's important for us to show ourselves in Texas and for people to know that we still exist, like we're here," said Anthony Falcon of the Lipan Apache tribe of Texas. "We're integrated into society like everybody else, but we hold onto our culture and our beliefs and our traditions and it's important for us to show people so that they can get educated to dispel those stereotypes and people understand that there's more to us than what you see on some TV shows or whatever."

The Pow-Wow is this Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the American Bank Center.
