CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was a busy day for Paradise Towing as they responded to numerous calls on Monday morning all of which were weather related.
"We've been real busy, it's been nonstop since it hit," said Randolph Irwin with the towing company.
Irwin has been on the move all day. In fact, as early as 10:30 a.m., he has already seen his fair share of close calls.
"People going to the hospital, it's not too too bad, but it's been getting worse," he said.
Irwin said that when conditions get like this, drivers should make sure to weigh their options.
"Be careful going over the bridges, don't get out if you don't have to," he said.
Due to the weather, the Corpus Christi Emergency Management Coordinator Billy Delgado said the city has also had their hands full with helping drivers navigate the busy winter freeze.
"There was a volume of calls coming in and they responded to each one as best as they can," said Corpus Christi Emergency Management Coordinator Billy Delgado.
Delgado said there are plans in place for when the city reaches chilling temperatures.
"TxDOT has mainly been doing all the brining with the bridges and the causeway and so they've been doing that the last couple of days maybe even a week. We're ready to do that if our streets are doing that," he said.
