City officials celebrate upgrades to the Mirador

The city manager said they have a better maintenance schedule in place to make sure the upgrades stay intact.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Upgrades to the miradors, including one that houses the popular Selena statue, are now complete.

The City of Corpus Christi celebrated the new LED lighting for the eight miradors on Shoreline Boulevard along with additional enhancements to the seawall.

The Director of the Devary Durrill Foundation, Bill Durrill, said it was time to upgrade these investments and it was good to celebrate it today ahead of tourism season.

"I'm proud that the city has invested in the gifts that our foundation has given to them and we are proud to be associated with this city management and this city council," Durrill said.

Mayor Paulette Guajardo and City Manager Peter Zanoni celebrated the long-awaited completion of the project.

"The Selena mirador had extensive work to improve the painting and improve the overall appearance of it, put in a brand new sound system and LED lighting," Zanoni said. "It is a spectacular view at night."

Zanoni said they have a better maintenance schedule in place to make sure the upgrades stay intact.
