Veteran Affairs hosts drive-thru food pantry

The next food pantry will be in April.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Veteran Affairs worked towards eliminating food insecurity among veterans and their families in the area by hosting a free drive-thru food pantry Thursday.

Voluntary Services Specialist, Gary Burgen, said he hopes they can increase their food distribution in the future with the new food bank facility.

"Any way we can give back to the community, we can show that we're here to help...we're just hoping we can continue," Burgen said.

The next food pantry will be in April.

Veterans must be enrolled in health care at the VA Texas Valley Costal Bend Health Care System and present a valid VA identification card to confirm their veteran status.
