CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's Memorial Day weekend and the VFW Post 8932 were out placing U.S. flags on veterans' headstones at Duncan Cemetery this Saturday.
The Boy Scouts were also out helping to place flags on the graves of those veterans.
It was a time to honor those who have fought for the country and many who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Evelyn Quattrone, a life member of the VFW post expressed how important it is to appreciate and respect those that gave their lives for their country.
"It's a bittersweet joy. Remembering those who came before us is very near and dear and educating, we also have boy scouts involved is part of our mission as well and come together to say goodbye to comrades and make sure their grave sites are clean and appropriate the way any of us would want it to be."
Ceremonies and services to honor our veterans continue through the holiday weekend.
