CCPD officer Hicks' body arrives in Dallas for organ donation

The two-year CCPD officer who died Wednesday was taken to Dallas on Thursday to prepare him for organ donation.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The body of Corpus Christi Police Department Officer Kyle Hicks is in Dallas tonight.

The department posting to their page this morning writing, "thank you to the Irving police department for taking care of Kyle for us and his family."

In the video above you can see Dallas Love Field  law enforcement spraying water as they welcomed the plane that was carrying Officer Hicks.

 Hicks' body left the Corpus Christi International Airport for Dallas on Thursday, escorted by members of law-enforcement agencies from around the state. 

Hicks, who was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance Saturday and died of his injuries Wednesday, was an organ donor. 

Hwy. 358 was temporarily closed as his body was taken by ambulance from Corpus Christi Medical Center's Bay Area Hospital to the airport, a procession police chief Michael Markle called a "Walk of Honor." 

Funeral plans have not been released.
