CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Officers from the Beeville Police Department have located and arrested wanted felon Eric Ramos after an encounter at a Stripes gas station Friday morning led to a high-speed chase near 1510 N. Washington Street.
Beeville Police arrested Ramos as he tried to escape the area in a cab.
Ramos, who was considered armed and dangerous, was seen in the front passenger seat of a vehicle parked at a gas pump when officers gave him a verbal command to comply with them. As the officers approached the vehicle, they observed Ramos crawling across to the driver’s side.
Ramos is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say he failed to comply with their commands and crawled across to the driver's side before taking control of the vehicle, putting it in gear and speeding away.
Police said that in response to the perceived threat, Police Chief Kevin Behr fired a shot at the left front tire to try and disable the vehicle before he fled the scene.
Ramos eventually abandoned the vehicle on Newhall Street in Beeville and fled on foot.
Officers later located and arrested Ramos as he tried to escape the area around noon. He was arrested without incident, along with a woman who was with him at the time.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
