CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
The YMCA of the Coastal Bend hosted a ‘Salsa Fest’ fundraising event.
Things were heating up downtown at ‘El Camino’ where they hosted a competition for the best homemade salsa in our community.
The event was all part of the organizations three main focuses: Healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.
The sizzling event promised more than just a party and all the funds raised will support youth programming at the YMCA.
"We have so many different programs at the YMCA and we do not turn anyone away due to the inability to pay and so this is one way that we raise the funds so that we are able to do that,” CEO of YMCA of the Coastal Bend, Gwen Ruppert said.
Today’s fiesta for taste buds is just one of the many things the YMCA has going on.
