CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — King head football coach Doug Foster will move to a district-wide role with the athletics office effective Thursday, according to a CCISD news release issued Wednesday.
Foster has been at King for five seasons after replacing Eddie Hesseltine, and also served as the Mustangs' athletics coordinator.
The Mustangs went 2-8 overall and 0-5 in district this season.
The release does not state what his new role will be, specifically, stating that those details will be made available at a later date.
Foster came to King from Lamar ISD's Richmond Foster High School, where he was the Falcons' assistant head coach and special teams coordinator.
His coaching experience also has taken him to Fort Bend, Poteet and Aransas Pass.
Over the last five seasons, the Mustangs have finished with an overall 7-42 record. None of those teams recorded more than two wins in a season, with the team going 0-10, 0-7 in 2023.
Corpus Christi ISD says no one has yet been selected to replace Foster. The position will be posted for interested candidates to apply.
Sports director Chris Thomasson contributed to this story. 3NEWS will provide updates as they become available.
