CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Thanks to Tropical Storm Alberto there will likely be a lot of rooftops being repaired over the next few weeks.
3NEWS visited Sandi's Diner at Weber Road and South Staples Street where the water is still coming down through the roof.
"Yesterday morning when the rain started I came in and there was a flood in my retail area," Sandra Clark owner of Sandi's Diner said.
The maintenance man Eluterio Gomez was assessing the damage. His job right now is to try and keep the diner -- which is still open for business -- dry and try to figure out where the water from Tropical Storm Alberto made its way down through the roof.
David Loeb owns the Hamlin Center and a number of other properties around town. He says he'll get the roof repaired, but doesn't anticipate using insurance to cover the costs because of the high deductible.
"Wind storm insurance deductibles are pretty high you know for the level I've seen over there I don't think we're going to get close to that," Loeb said. "That's a couple-of-thousand-dollar issue we're looking at."
Homeowners around town hearing that might want to contact a local roofing company to have their roof checked out before it springs a leak.
"It's important that through the year that people make the effort to have their roofs inspected," Pinnacle Roofing Systems owner Ben Molina said. "You want to be proactive, it requires maintenance just like every other part of the building."
