CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's a special day for a San Antonio family as a mother and three daughters all graduate from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi together with doctoral degrees in nursing practice.
For over four decades, Glenda Deahl has worked as a nurse. She shared her passion of helping others with her three daughters, Olivia Smith, Josie Arnold, and Sophie De Sequera.
"I think when you have a passion for something, it's contagious," Glenda said.
Olivia, Josie, and Sophie said they're happy to share this moment with their role model.
"My mom who taught me to read and write, and going along this journey getting my doctorate with her and just being able to relate to her as a classmate and collaborate," Olivia said. "It's just amazing, it's an incredible gift and and I'm just very thankful for that."
"I'm just so grateful to have gotten to follow in the footsteps of my mom and to walk alongside my sisters. It's just been a gift," Josie said.
Glenda said this achievement is something she'll always cherish because she was able to experience it with her daughters.
"It's going with them on this journey and getting to see their success if just been unbelievably full of joy for me," Glenda said.
Glenda's passion for helping others has influenced several family members to work in the healthcare field. Olivia's husband, Eliot, will also be graduating with a master's degree in nursing leadership.
