CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Black Friday may not bring the crowds that it once did, but people are still going out to shop at La Palmera Mall.
Thomas Everett and Cheyenne Lawrence began their holiday shopping early this year but Everett said Black Friday deals are not what they use to be.
"It seems the deals are a week long thing now so they're not really the day of. So, the concept of coming out for Black Friday for good deals is kind of lost," Everett said.
For Lawrence, it's her first Black Friday and it's not what she thought it would be.
"I've never really been out Black Friday shopping, I think a lot of it over the years, hearing all the stories and stuff. I can do without, plus I'm very impatient, I don't like to wait in lines," Lawrence said. "But this year, he said, "Let's go," so we came to check it out. It's actually a lot more laid back than what I thought it was going to be."
Nyomi Gonzales and Alisha Villegas are preparing for a trip and decided to hit the stores at eight this morning. But they realized that maybe they didn't have to get up so early to take advantage of Black Friday deals.
"That's what we were thinking, that's why we came early because we thought everything was going to be like crazy packed. Like how people are saying, times are not the same, our Black Fridays are not the same, like how it use to be. It's just like a normal day," Gonzales said.
Gonzales said they took advantage of the deals by shopping at several stores.
"I feel like prices have skyrocketed recently so all these deals I think are really good," Gonzales.
