CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County Sheriff's Office has arrested three individuals in a raid of the game room "Lucky Corner" off South Staples Street.
Deputies arrived to the game room around 6:25 p.m. and there were around 50 patrons inside at the time, according to Chief Deputy David Cook.
"This is a game room that has been in operation for a while, they have never filed for a permit," he said.
Around 75-80 machines were inside the game room when lawmen raided it. 3NEWS spoke to one of the patrons named Eddie. He said that he gets it.
"They're just doing their job," he said.
The Nueces County Game Room Ordinance went into effect in 2023 to help law enforcement have more parameters with how they address the issue of shutting down illegal activity. Cook said that there will be certain consequences for those who are caught breaking the law.
"Once we identified the patrons, we will release them and all the employees will be charged with a Class A misdemeanor for operating this game room in violation of the ordinance," he said.
