CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 19-year-old woman died after she was run over by a truck driven by her stepmother early Wednesday morning.
Alice Police Chief Eden Garcia said the death is being treated as an accident.
Garcia said the older woman left the house in the 1000 block of Magnolia Street at about 2:50 a.m. Wednesday to go to the store. On the way, she realized she didn't have her wallet and drove back to the house to get it.
Not realizing the teen, identified as Haley Brock, was lying on the driveway when she came back, the older woman drove into the alley and accidentally ran over Brock.
The 19-year-old was taken to the hospital where she later died at about 3:30 a.m.
Garcia said the death is still being investigated, but that officers at the scene had no immediate reason to suspect alcohol was a factor.
