CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Islanders came together this evening to remember five fellow students who died this year.
Jason Balsom, David Field, Christopher Garcia, Matthew Kesselring, and Lauren Sadoski's memories were celebrated at the university's annual Island Tribute ceremony Tuesday night.
After the ceremony, memorial bricks engraved with their names were enshrined into the pavement of Lee Plaza at the university as a way to give back to those students’ families.
"We welcome their families to come back to let them know that they will forever be an Islander," said A&M-CC assoc. vice president and dean of students Lisa Perez.
University president Kelly Miller also asked for a moment of silence for Caleb Harris and his family Tuesday night as Islanders hold on to hope that he will return safely.
