CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas Highway Patrol officers are investigating a fatal crash that they say left a man trapped in his vehicle as it caught fire early Sunday morning. The incident took place Sunday at approximately 12:29 a.m. in Bee County.
Staff Sgt. Rob Mallory with DPS said 28-year-old Ricardo Gomez III was driving north on FM 1465 in a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500 when he failed to maintain a single lane of travel and crashed into a cement bridge barrier.
Thye car then rolled over and out of the roadway, coming to rest on the driver side in a grass median where it caught fire with Gomez trapped inside.
Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace 4 Judge Leticia Cantu.
The crash remains under investigation by Troopers from the George West Highway Patrol Office.
