CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Beth Holloway, mother of Natalee Holloway, shared the story of her daughter's 2005 disappearance in Aruba while discussing the importance of personal safety and awareness at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi on Wednesday.
It was all part of the school's 'Islanders Night Out' event that focuses on understanding the relationships between substance use and mental health.
She even took a moment to acknowledge the campus community's loss of Caleb Harris.
"It's devastating for the community and for all of the students as well," Holloway said. "What I try to express to families is we embrace what we can we embrace, what punitiveness we can in the unthinkable tragedy that has happened and from what I've heard and what I've witnessed is the coming together of Corpus Christi."
She added that community support can be the silver lining during tragedy.
