ROCKPORT, Texas — Calling all boaters!
A local event needs your help in giving some awesome children an unforgettable day out on the water. The date to mark on your calendar is the morning of Saturday, Aug. 10.
C.A.S.T. (which stands for Catch a Special Thrill) for Kids is designed to provide children with special needs, between the ages of 6-18, the opportunity to enjoy a day out on the water with peers, their family and volunteers.
The children signed up for this year's event can expect 2-3 hours of fishing, a lunch, followed by an awards celebration where each participant will receive a plaque that's all their own to commemorate the special day.
It's a fun-filled and action-packed day, but organizers say they're still needing to fulfill the need of more boaters!
As of Tuesday night, organizers tell 3NEWS they have 35 children participating this year, but only 17 boaters volunteering for the event.
Those interested in volunteering their time on that Saturday morning are urged to call event coordinator Pamela Bratton, who will get you set up! She can be reached at: (512) 914-5871.
