The Carroll High School marching band was first on the field, which band leaders considered a strength.

"We get to be the first people out there, we're first to set the scene of the show," Head Drum Major Symone Hill said. "I feel like we're gonna do really good."

Assistant Drum Major Joaquin Alvarez echoing those sentiments, adding that he couldn't wait to get out onto the field.

"I'm super excited, the band has worked super hard all summer, all school year, so I'm excited to show the people of Corpus what we've got."

Those sights and sounds of school bands weren't the only thing for the crowd to enjoy. The drill teams put on a show as well!

3NEWS spoke with two Carroll High School Tigerettes ahead of their performance about their feelings leading up to the big night.

"I'm excited to showcase everything to the parents and I'm also excited to watch all the other schools' performances," Colonel Isabella Cardona said.

"I'm also really excited," Major Kaylah Martinez added. "I'm excited to show people what we've been working on for the past couple weeks and excited to see what everyone else has been working on."

There was no shortage of school spirit as students turned the field into their stage, adding to a night filled with moving performances from Carroll, King, Miller, Moody, Ray and Veterans Memorial High Schools.
