CCPD: 18-year-old shot after alleged drug deal turns into robbery

The teen victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An 18-year-old was shot during an alleged drug deal that turned into a robbery in a parking lot on Brett Street, near the old Carroll High School, witnesses told Corpus Christi Police Department officers Wednesday night.

Police were called to the location for a shooting victim at 9:19 p.m.

When they arrived, officers said they did not find a shooting victim, but did see a crime scene and spoke with witnesses.

CCPD said officers determined that a drug deal between two men turned into a robbery when one of the men, described as a Hispanic man wearing a grey hoodie, pulled out a gun and shot the other.

The 18-year-old left the scene in a white car and was found by another group of officers on Painter Street near the Home Depot on Ayers Street. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to CCPD.

Police said the shooter has not been found.
